Belgian Barbu d'Anvers

The Belgian Barbu d'Anvers is an old-fashioned bantam breed that has no standard equivalent, making it a "true bantam."  Also called the Antwerp Belgian, it has been around for than three- hundred years.  It experienced a huge surge in popularity in the early 1900's, when it was imported to the United States, but it was only admitted into the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection until 1949.
