Plymouth Rock

The Plymouth Rock is a robust, practical fowl long favored by American Homesteaders.  The rise of large-scale commercial poultry production in the mid-twentieth century led to a drop in numbers, as more commercially viable.  Breeds took over, but the recent resurgence in local foods has boosted the breed's popularity.  Active and intelligent, they are considered a heavy soft-feathered breed.
