Maran

 

   Known as a mellow, tidy breed, Marans are famed for their lsrge, chocolate-colored eggs. The breed has short, heavy " hard " feathers usually associated with game fowl. It is currently listed in the British Poultry Standards, but not yet recognized by the American Poultry Association.
