Frizzle

The Frizzle looks as if it has just stepped out of a beauty parlor; its distinctive feathers curl upward, lending it a coiffed appearance.  The Frizzled feather type stems from a gene mutation inherited by only half the offspring when Frizzles are mated.  Breeders maintain some smooth types in the breeding pool, because repeated pairings between frizzled birds can produce birds with brittle , narrow feathers.
